So on Friday, Beau called me and let me know that there was a retreat for his engineering honorary, Texnikoi, and that the members were allowed to bring guests with them to the retreat at Put In Bay, a city on an island in Lake Erie. I packed up and he and I headed out shortly thereafter for a weekend on an island at a very nice rental house. That night we hung out with two other members of Texnikoi, Zach and Tim, and we got to see a lot of the city as well as speak to the owner of our house and of many of the rental properties on the island.
Saturday we woke up and Beau and I decided to head into town to rent a golf cart for a while. We took it around sight-seeing and eventually to one of the wineries on the island, where we tried a few different wines and Beau bought bottles for himself and his mother. After we ate lunch, some more Texnikoi members made it up to the island and we watched the movie, "Forty Year Old Virgin" which I had never seen. The new members were Erin, Steve, and Justin; all of whom are in Staters with Julie. Saturday night we all went out and enjoyed the town a little bit more before Justin, Erin, and Steve had to leave early Sunday to head back to Columbus for a scholarship banquet that Justin needed to attend.
Sunday, Beau and I finished up the cleaning of the house and headed out around 11:00am to get to the Ferry and come back to the mainland. We ate lunch at the ferry, got on the boat, brought Beau's jeep back and drove back to Columbus. Sunday night Julie and I went out for dinner to Cheesecake Factory where we split an appetizer of Chicken Pot Stickers before I had the entree of the Chicken Madeira and Julie had the Spicy Cashew Chicken before the requisite cheesecake (we went with the Brownie Sundae Cheesecake).
Monday was relatively uneventful until our chapter meeting, which was the last for the graduating seniors and myself. A number of the younger members had nice things to say about many of us, and we will be having our Hoop of Steel ceremony in next weekend to have the final goodbye. Cabby and I also responded via e-mail to make dinner plans before the Brother Mentor ROP we are putting on next weekend as well.
Today started off with picking up Julie and making a trip to the Verizon store, where I bought a new phone, the Samsung SCH u740 and a new headset (the Jabra BT8010 with attachable stereo headset). This new phone was a big step for me because I upgraded to unlimited mobileweb (on Verizon's Vcast software) as well as my first bluetooth headset. One of the nice features of the phone is also the microSD drive and now that I ordered a 2GB microSD card, and I have the stereo bluetooth headset, I can listen to a ton of music wirelessly on my cell phone. And the best part is, if I get a call, I can take that and the music will pause and resume when the phone call is over.
After that today though I had my regularly scheduled busy day of Golf, AED Econ, and Finance. All were relatively painless and tomorrow, I look forward to having another leadership class with Rich as well as Table Tennis and Game Theory!
